The subject of this paper is the construction of the urban legend of the ghost in the Museum of Jagodina in local cultural, historical, political and economic context, where the different narratives are perceived diachronically and are integrated into a synchronic perspective, with reference to the similar legends in the world. By analyzing the content of the stories and the actions of the actors, we discover various aspects and meanings of this urban legend that remain hidden in its basic form and give us insight into the local and national political situation, as well as the economic potential of the use of mythic constructions for tourism purposes, that is the openness or clannishness of formal institutions, the media and individuals for the possible use and adjustments of such narratives for personal interests and needs.
