Abstract

Two demons of Slovene mythology (Bauk – a night demon and Gador – nasty woman) remained in folk minds inspite of violent Christian reactions against paganity. According to the wide Baltico-Sloven and Indoeuropean parallels, Author explains the etimology of their names and attributes.
