I kulturni insajderi i kulturni autsajderi skloni su da portretiraju žene kao svojevrsne posude u kojima su pohranjeni „autentični“ kulturni atributi muslimana. Ovo za posledicu ima široku eksploataciju ženske telesnosti, kako u svrhe zaštite islamskog kulturnog identiteta od „koruptivnih“ uticaja spolja, tako i u svrhe legitimizacije neo-liberalnih ekspanzionističkih težnji na (Bliski, Daleki) „istok“: legitimizaicje koja sa sobom nosi predstavu o zapadnim kulturnim vrednostima i moralnim načelima kao daleko civilizovanijim i humanijim od „orijentalnih U ovom članku ponudićemo teorijsko-metodološki okvir koji promatra emancipujuća stremljenja žena u islamskim značenjskim okvirima, tako što ukazuje na opasnosti različitih „centrizama“ zapadnih posmatrača u percepciji ovih procesa, odnosno na izvestan broj prednosti koje interpretaciji i analizi islamskog feminizma nudi više refleksivan i više kontekstualan, kulturno relativistički pristup.
